Rating key: Ratings are issued by the RAK Department of Knowledge following annual inspections. Outstanding is the highest grade; only RAK Academy Al Hamra holds this for AY 2025-26. Schools marked Verify are not currently confirmed in the RAK DOK public register – contact the school directly to confirm current status before making any admissions decision.

Government Schools – Boys

Government schools in RAK are gender-segregated at all levels. Boys and girls attend entirely separate schools. All government schools follow the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum with Arabic as the primary language of instruction. Islamic Studies is compulsory. Education is free for UAE nationals; non-nationals may enrol for a modest annual fee, though most expatriate families choose private schools due to the Arabic-medium instruction.

The school year runs September to June. Enrolment for non-nationals requires approval from the RAK Education Zone. Contact details below are from the Ministry of Education directory – always call ahead to confirm current status and availability before applying.

Government Kindergartens

Government kindergartens in RAK are run by the Ministry of Education and primarily serve UAE national children. They operate on the national curriculum and are free of charge for nationals. Non-national families seeking early years places will generally find private nurseries and international school foundation stages more accessible – most private schools listed above accept children from age 3 or 4.
