3 UAE teams won the competition to solve challenges posed by pandemic
Team Mahali, Team Vision Health and Team Moood won Techstars Online Startup Weekend Covid Edition. 280 participants, 54 hours of networking, 6 workshops, 17 mentors, and 6 judges. These three teams made it out of the third round of judging. Sharks for this session included representatives from Dubai Future Accelerators, LEAD Ventures, Microsoft for Startups in the Middle East, GetBee and DTEC Ventures.

For the first time, Techstars, the global platform for investment and innovation, hosted a Global Online Startup Weekend series, “Unite to Fight Covid-19.” We hosted this 54-hour weekend event on 16-18 April, 2020. Participants worked together from their homes to tackle the challenges presented by the pandemic.
Local Community Leaders, in partnership with Techstars, volunteered to host this event, which focused on developing Covid-19-related solutions unique to UAE. Participants helped develop prototypes that aimed at solving some of the biggest challenges posed by the pandemic.
UAE is one of more than 70 countries around the world participating in this important event. The top 20 teams from around the world will go on to participate in a Techstars Innovation Bootcamp experience.

We also had very informative workshops during the events consisting of 6 sessions throughout the three days on marketing, pitching, lean design and business canvas modeling. Ambitious full-time employees and entrepreneurs from companies like Emirates Airline, Careem, Intelak, and RideHoop who dedicated more than 70 hours collectively to the startups.
