Thomas Schoen has been appointed as the President of Wynn Al Marjan Island, the new multi-billion-dollar integrated resort of Wynn Resorts, Limited (Nasdaq: WYNN), which is scheduled to launch in early 2027 in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
As President of Wynn Al Marjan Island, Schoen will be responsible for managing all operational aspects of the resort, which marks Wynn Resorts’ entry into the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region and its first beachfront destination. The project is being developed in collaboration with local partners Marjan LLC and RAK Hospitality Holding LLC. Wynn Al Marjan Island is poised to become a new architectural icon in the UAE, towering over 1,000 feet (305 meters) above sea level, and offering visitors a premium luxury experience. The resort will comprise a contemporary world-class luxury hotel with 1,500 rooms, suites, and villas, an advanced events center, a gaming area, a theater, and a range of exclusive dining, spa, and lifestyle offerings.
With over 30 years of experience in luxury hospitality across Europe, the UK, and Africa, Schoen is a seasoned industry professional. His expertise in launching and managing high-end integrated resorts will be instrumental in creating a distinguished brand experience for the new and iconic Ras Al Khaimah property.
“Wynn Al Marjan Island is an exciting project for Wynn Resorts,” said Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts. “We’re delighted to welcome Thomas to lead our operating team at this new venture. In his role, he will lead the delivery of the exceptional Wynn guest service for which we are so well known. Thomas’ passion for hospitality and extensive experience will be an important part of the success of Wynn Al Marjan Island.”
The integrated resort, which is raising the bar in design and luxury experiences, represents the biggest foreign direct investment of its kind in Ras Al Khaimah. The new resort on Al Marjan Island underscores the Emirate’s increasing global standing as a prime investment hub for top-tier hospitality ventures.
Commenting on his new role, Schoen added, “I am delighted to lead the operations of Wynn Al Marjan Island and feel privileged to be part of such a significant new chapter for the group. The iconic destination will not only mark a new one-of-a-kind guest experience in the Emirates but will further establish the brand across the globe. I look forward to embarking on this exciting journey.”
Before joining Wynn Resorts, Schoen spent several years at Starwood Hotels and Resorts, as well as Marriott Hotels and Resorts, where he managed various prestigious brands such as Sheraton, Westin, Le Meridien, St Regis, W Hotels, and Hyatt. As Complex General Manager of Pine Cliffs Resort – Luxury Collection, he oversaw a comprehensive renovation and construction program to finalize the resort’s masterplan, managed pre-opening and launch, and positioned the resort as the top resort destination in Europe.
