The Cove Rotana is excited to announce Edwin Gomes appointment as Executive Chef. He will oversee 6 bars and 2 restaurants, including the Italian- Mediterranean signature restaurant: “Basilico”.
A SEASONED PROFESSIONAL
Originally from Kolkata, India, Edwin’s passion for the culinary arts is no surprise as he hails from a family of Chefs. One of his fondest memories includes helping his mother in the kitchen at an early age.
After a myriad of apprenticeships, Edwin fine-tuned his craft at The Park Hotels in Kolkata, India. His career soon took him to work with brands such as Hilton, JA Resorts and Spa, Royal M and Royal Caribbean Cruise Liners.
As Edwin’s expertise grew, his culinary journey enabled him to travel to the Middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras al Khaimah and Saudi Arabia), the Atlantic, Nordic and Pacific Coast, and his most recent post in Egypt’s Casa Cooks El Gouna.

“I look forward to setting marks to achieve the unachieved, simply put, luxury is not just a statement, but rather it’s something you literally must taste!” adding, “There are prime standards to set and consistently meet, one of them being freshness. Freshness has always been vital for me; I live up to our ‘farm to fork philosophy and quality produce the key”.
