Pullman Al Marjan Island Is Getting a Massive Makeover — Here’s What’s Changing

Pullman Resort Al Marjan Island shuts temporarily for a major resort transformation in Ras Al Khaimah.

If you’ve driven past Pullman Resort Al Marjan Island recently and thought, “Wait… why does it look quieter than usual?” — don’t worry, it hasn’t disappeared into the sea. The resort has officially entered the final phase of its massive transformation journey, and let’s just say… this isn’t your average “new curtains and fresh paint” hotel renovation.

This is more of a full-on glow-up.

The resort temporarily closed its doors on 1 May 2026 as part of a major repositioning strategy designed to reshape the property into one of Ras Al Khaimah’s leading contemporary resort destinations. Translation? Pullman is preparing for its next era — and it wants to come back looking very, very different.

So What’s Actually Happening?

Think of this as Phase 2 of a carefully planned makeover. Last year, the resort already refreshed its public spaces — the kind of upgrades guests notice immediately when they walk into the lobby and suddenly start taking photos “just for the aesthetic.”

Now, the transformation moves deeper into the property, focusing on guest rooms and corridors across all guest floors. Basically, everything from Level 1 upwards is getting a serious upgrade.

The goal? A smoother, more elevated experience that feels modern, cohesive, and aligned with Pullman’s global contemporary brand vibe.

Because let’s be honest — today’s travellers don’t just want a hotel room anymore. They want mood lighting, stylish interiors, comfy beds that make you consider cancelling your return flight, and spaces that look good enough to appear in a “POV: You Escaped to RAK” TikTok.

And Pullman clearly got the memo.

Why Close the Entire Resort?

Now here’s where things get interesting.

Instead of renovating section by section while guests awkwardly navigate around drilling sounds and mysterious construction curtains, the resort decided to fully close during the transformation period.

Honestly? Bold move. But probably the smart one.

This allows the team to work faster, maintain quality consistency across the entire property, and avoid disrupting guest experiences. No half-finished corridors. No “please excuse the noise between 9 AM and forever.” Just one focused transformation from start to finish.

According to Evan Harrington, Cluster General Manager, this marks a defining moment for the resort and reflects a long-term investment into the future of Ras Al Khaimah’s hospitality scene.

And considering how quickly Ras Al Khaimah is evolving right now, the timing makes sense.

Ras Al Khaimah’s Hotel Scene Is Changing Fast

RAK isn’t exactly the “quiet little hidden gem” it used to be.

Between luxury beachfront developments, new entertainment projects, and the growing global spotlight on Al Marjan Island, the emirate’s hospitality competition is heating up fast.

Hotels aren’t just competing on location anymore. They’re competing on experience.

That means modern design, lifestyle-driven stays, wellness experiences, upgraded dining, social spaces, and the kind of atmosphere that makes guests immediately open Instagram before unpacking.

Pullman’s transformation appears to be built around exactly that shift.

What Happens to Existing Guests?

Good news for loyal guests and partners — the Accor network is stepping in to keep things running smoothly.

During the closure period, alternative arrangements will be supported through sister properties, including Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island, which will serve as the active cluster resort.

So if you suddenly find yourself “accidentally” redirected to another beachfront resort with pools, restaurants, and island vibes… well, there are definitely worse problems to have.

When Will Pullman Reopen?

The resort is currently targeting an early 2027 reopening.

And when it returns, guests can expect a fully reimagined Pullman experience featuring contemporary interiors, upgraded comfort, refreshed design language, and a stronger focus on modern resort hospitality.

Basically, Pullman is disappearing for a while… but it plans to come back with main-character energy.
