These terms apply to anyone submitting a business to the WOW-RAK directory at wow-rak.com/directory via our submission form. Submitting a business means you have read and agreed to these terms.
1. The directory
The WOW-RAK Directory is a free, editorially curated listing of businesses operating in Ras Al Khaimah. It is operated by WOW Media FZ LLC. We do not charge SMEs to be listed.
2. What we ask from you
To submit your business, you provide:
- Business name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Google Business Profile URL
We use these details to verify your business is operating, extract listing information from your verified Google Business Profile, and contact you with the outcome of the review.
3. Editorial review
Every submission is reviewed by the WOW Media editorial team. We may publish your listing, request more information, or decline to list it. Submission does not guarantee publication. Reasons we may decline include but are not limited to:
- The business does not appear to be operating
- The Google Business Profile is not verified
- The business does not fit our directory categories
- The business has unresolved customer complaints or legal issues visible in public records
- The submission does not meet our editorial gatekeeping standards
4. How we write listings
Listings are written by the WOW Media editorial team in our brand voice. We do not publish marketing copy supplied by businesses. The published description, Expert Tip, and any editorial content remain the property of WOW Media FZ LLC.
The factual elements (name, address, hours, phone, website, social media handles, photos) are sourced from your verified Google Business Profile or other verified sources.
5. Photo rights
Photos used on your directory listing come from:
- Your verified Google Business Profile (publicly available)
- Our own photography
- Photos you supply with written permission for use on wow-rak.com
We do not scrape photos from third-party platforms (TripAdvisor, Zomato, etc.) or use photos without permission.
6. Accuracy and updates
You are responsible for keeping your Google Business Profile accurate and up to date. We refresh listings every 90 days against the GBP source. If your information changes, update your GBP and the directory listing will follow on the next refresh cycle, or email us at wowmedia.hello@gmail.com for faster updates.
7. Closure and removal
If your business closes (permanently, seasonally, or for renovation) we flag the listing as CLOSED rather than deleting it. The page is preserved so visitors still find correct information when they search for the venue. We avoid creating dead 404s.
You may request removal of your listing at any time by emailing wowmedia.hello@gmail.com. We will:
- Verify the request comes from the business (matching email domain or phone confirmation)
- Set the listing to draft within 5 business days
- Remove the listing entirely within 30 days if you do not appeal
8. Modification rights
WOW Media reserves the right to:
- Edit listings to maintain accuracy, brand voice, or directory standards
- Add or remove categories, features, or zones as our taxonomy evolves
- Refuse listings that do not meet our editorial standards
- Remove listings that become inactive or violate these terms
9. Sponsored content is separate
Featured Partner status on the directory is reserved for businesses with an active paid sponsored content relationship with WOW Media. This is a separate commercial arrangement, not part of the free directory submission. Free directory listings are not pay-to-play.
10. Data handling
We collect the four fields above (name, email, phone, GBP URL) plus the submission timestamp and IP address. This data is used only to:
- Contact you about your submission
- Review your business and create your directory listing
- Comply with our editorial verification process
We do not sell, share, or transfer this data to third parties. Business contact information (venue phone, email, website, address) does appear on the public directory listing – that is the point of being listed.
This is governed by the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law 45 of 2021). Business contact information generally falls outside strict PDPL scope as it is business data, not personal data of individuals.
11. Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates and specifically of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of RAK courts.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version with the date at the top is always the active version. Continued listing in the directory means you accept any updates.
